“Journey Toward Freedom: A Unitarian Story.”
The heart of most religious teaching is story. There are those who suggest that Unitarian Universalism, unlike other religions, has no coherent story. In these reflections, Jim Jaeger will explore one of the central stories of Unitarian Universalism—the ongoing struggle to “leave thought free” in the face of challenges from religious orthodoxy and attempts to suppress differences in religious expression.
James A. Jaeger is a 4th year ministerial student in the Modified Residency Program at Meadville Lombard Theological School, the Unitarian Universalist Seminary in Chicago. For over 20 years he has been a member of First Unitarian Society of Madison, serving as its president for two years. He has also been active in the Central Midwest District consultant’s program and is a part time night chaplain at Meriter Hospital and a volunteer chaplain at HospiceCare, Inc. in Madison. In his “other” life, he is an elder law attorney in private practice in Madison.
