UU Sunday, May 9th, 2010 – Terratheism, A Free Thought Religion of the Land
Terratheism, A Free Thought Religion of the Land
Freethinkers are reminded in our principles to “read the Book of Nature.” This Sunday, Andrew will offer his own personal reading of the Book of Nature, based on his experiences on the land as a farmer. He calls his religion Terratheism. Terratheism sees the land as the source of human meaning. Through the land we experience the fertility of the cosmos, both the fertility of the creatures of the world and also the fertility of the Goddess whose body includes the land. We are called by the land to play in the world and to be intimate with everything around us.
He will offer poetic expressions of terratheism, and also a reflection expressing various elements of this new religion. Join us to hear one farmer speak about the religious value of the land.
