Free Thought Sunday, March 21st – Did The Founding Fathers Intend A Christian Nation?

Feb 16th, 2010 by Andrew Kerr | 0

Did The Founding Fathers Want the United States To Be A ‘Christian Nation’?

Was the United States founded as a “Christian Nation” as some on the Religious Right insist?  Or were the founders die hard Secularists?  The truth is probably somewhere in between.  In this Third Sunday Presentation, Jim Jaeger, a ministerial student at Meadville Lombard Theological School (the Unitarian Universalist Seminary in Chicago) will discuss the “Faith of the Founders” and try to shed some light on our country’s religious (or irreligious) heritage.

Jim Jaeger is a member of First Unitarian Society of Madison and a student for the Unitarian Universalist Ministry at Meadville Lombarad Theological School in Chicago. He has served in a variety of leadership roles at First Unitarian and also serves as a consultant for the Central Midwest District.  He has a strong interest in history, especially American History, and looks forward to sharing this topic with the Free Congregation of Sauk County.
