Spiritual Reflection Roundtable
Are there Limits to American Individualism?
Individualism is one of the core American values, but the emphasis given to it sets us distinctly apart from other comparable societies. And we often talk about and act on this core value in a taken-for-granted manner. During this Spiritual Reflection Hour we will consider the relationship between individualism and community. How has our immediate community shaped who we are today? What responsibilities and expectations are involved in the teeter-totter give-and-take of individual and community? How is this relationship shaping current politics as well as our personal emotional well-being and spirituality? How is it changing in our current historical period? What are the dangers inherent in focusing on just one end of this continuum?
If you would like to explore these questions, join us for our monthly First Sunday Roundtable at Park Hall!
