WELCOME! We are delighted you are thinking of becoming a member of the Free Congregation of Sauk County. We hope the following information will help you understand what that would mean for you.
Membership is open to anyone fourteen years of age or older who supports the organizational mission of the Free Congregation and who affirms and promotes the principle of the Unitarian Universalist Association:
You may become a member by signing the membership book, usually found at the back of the hall, in the presence of the Board President or Secretary, and by making a contribution of record to the Treasurer during the calendar year.
Members in good standing are expected to make a monetary contribution of record to the Congregation. Your contribution is confidential. Your contribution may be paid in whatever increments best suit your budget, but due in full by the end of the calendar year. Contribution of record gives a person the right to participate as a member in full standing. There is no minimum level of required giving. Traditionally, religious organizations suggested tithing or contributing 10% of annual income. Today, demands of charitable giving and all the organizations we support suggest that percent be divided among our varied interests. We hope you consider the Free Congregation of Sauk County's goals and mission important enough to be worth at least one-third of your total charitable giving. Membership may be ended by not paying dues by the end of the year, or by resigning in writing to the Secretary. Together, our annual contributions allow us to maintain our beloved meeting house, Park Hall and its grounds, pay operating costs including speaker and musician fees and the salary of a part-time staff person who assists in coordinating administrative tasks and the Religious Education program.
