Right Relations with Money – November 9, 2009

I have talked these past few services about reason and kindness. Reason and kindness expand our natural capacity for love beyond our family and friends. When love expands in this way, hierarchy, social privilege, nationalism, these things fall like scales from our eyes. We perceive instead the equal worth of every human being, and we feel awe before the splendor of nature. Today, let’s give the ideal of kindness some real work to do; what does kindness mean when applied to our relationship with money? Since we Americans have elected a socialist to be our next President, this question has perhaps a new relevance!
